Revealing Research for Willow Creek

About 5 years ago the leadership at the internationally recognized Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois put themselves and the church through an evaluation to really understand where they might be failing and where they might be succeeding in helping people grow in their faith. The outgrowth of the research that was conducted (and continues to this day), was the publication of a series of books under the research program title: Reveal.

The publishing wing of Willow Creek was committed to producing high quality volumes, knowing that the research would find a wide international audience, especially among the thousands of Willow Creek Association churches. Not surprisingly, the first book in the series, Reveal, made the national press upon its release in 2007. The books have been read by thousands of readers worldwide.

In order to reach their quality objectives they put a high priority on the quality of the interior illustrations. Why? Because the books were basically a presentation and analysis of huge amounts of collected data. It had to be easily consumed by an audience that is mostly non-technical. So the challenge was to distill potentially confusing data analysis concepts and render engaging, understandable, and even entertaining visuals that could be rapidly digested by the reader.

Design Corps was selected to produce the 30+ illustrations in the first volume. The success of our work insured that Willow Creek returned to us for the subsequent 2 volumes released in 2008 and 2009. The total number of graphics produced is in the area of 100.
